Campus Kids Summer Camp
2017 Staff Interviews
Hometown: South Orange, NJ
Position: Head Counselor for Yosummaladies and Co-Sports Coordinator
Favorite Activities: When I was a camper it was definitely gymnastics and bead looming (I even had a bead looming birthday party!)
When not at camp: I go to school at TCNJ! This year I'm actually going to be president of the ultimate frisbee organization. We have a girls and guys team, and I'll be the president of both. It's going to be a lot of fun.
If you could take the camp on a field trip where would you go and why? Oh, The Crayola Factory for sure! I went there several times as a kid, and would always ask to go anytime someone mentioned a field trip. You get to learn how to make crayons and markers. There's also one floor dedicated to barges and you get to play with little toy boats...I'm not really sure why. You get a lot of free stuff. Also the gift shop is amazing. The best part is that you can buy a tin can and fill it up with basically any crayola products. My favorite was always getting the obscure colors that weren't in a normal box of crayons or markers.
What celebrity would you most want to meet at Starbucks for a
cup of coffee? I'm not sure if she's
a "celebrity", but I would definitely want to meet Rosa Parks. Her story
would be amazing to hear in person. When I was younger I read everything
I possibly could on her. I even had to ask the librarian at school for
extra material because I went through all of the books on the shelves.
How has camp changed for you over the years? A lot actually hasn't changed for me personally, but all the change that has happened has been positive. I know a lot more now because I've been a camper, staff assistant, counselor, and now head counselor! Of course I miss being a camper somtimes, but it's fun to have all the insight of the various jobs.
If you could steal credit for any book what would it be?
I would take credit for the Twilight
books. For starters, I would be super wealthy. Also, the books are so
bad, but I think it would be cool to see the evolution of the movie
making process of the stories.
